Frequently Asked Questions
Who lives in an Eden Village and how long?
Eden Villages are not transitional living or a place to turn yourself around. Eden Villages are built for the chronically homeless, who have disabilities that prevent them from changing their circumstances. We instead, understand those disabilities and channel their strengths and teach them to be competent and happy members of society. Our residents are welcome to live here their whole lives.
Should I be concerned about an Eden Village moving into my neighborhood?
The opposite. Eden Villages are clean, controlled, and full of happy people working on themselves and their community. Our residents help to keep inside and outside of their gates clean and safe. Without being in survival mode, the true spirit of these individuals shines through.
When will Eden Village of San Marcos be open for residents?
We are currently in the fundraising stage, and we hope that through work with donors and volunteers, we can find and purchase land and start construction in 2023. Our efforts will of course be expedited as more and more donations come in, but we’re excited to see what the future brings. When homes start being placed, we will open the application process here on this site and start selecting our first residents. Man will that be a blessed day.
Do Eden Village residents live for free?
No. We’re not here for a handout, rather to support and promote community into the lives of our neighbors. Rent pays for utilities, laundry, activities, staffing and resources provided. Residents will pay rent of $350/mo. that can come from employment, sponsorship, government assistance, disability check, etc.
How can I volunteer at Eden Village of San Marcos?
Our volunteer needs are ever changing. Right now, our needs are in spreading our mission and educating the public on the benefits an Eden Village will bring to our local economy. If you have background or connections in fundraising, marketing, media, real estate, grant writing, or just ready to get your hands dirty, give us a call.
